TransNusa Launches 3 New Flight Routes in Eastern Indonesia

Following the successful launch of routes connecting Manado, Bali, Sorong, and Ambon on April 5, TransNusa has reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing connectivity in Eastern Indonesia.

The domestic airline, PT TransNusa Aviation Mandiri, has now introduced scheduled return flights on three new routes: Timika (TIM) to Sorong (SOQ), Timika to Ambon (AMQ), and Ambon to Sorong. These routes will operate daily using the COMAC ARJ 21 aircraft, which has a capacity of 95 passengers.

Captain Heru Triperwiranto, General Manager of TransNusa Operations, emphasized the potential for economic and regional infrastructure growth with the opening of these new routes.

"Better connectivity between these regions will improve accessibility and trade while enabling more equitable and sustainable economic growth," he stated during the launch event at Gate 1, Mozes Kilangin Airport, Timika, Central Papua, on Thursday, April 18, 2024.

He also highlighted the social benefits of improved transportation infrastructure, including enhanced access to healthcare, education, and economic opportunities for local communities.

"This effort to strengthen connectivity between Sorong, Ambon, and Timika is a vital step in advancing development in Eastern Indonesia," Heru added.

A Strategic Step for Broader Access

Heru explained that this initiative aligns with TransNusa's strategy to provide broader transportation access for Indonesians, particularly in areas previously lacking connectivity.

The launch of these routes also reflects the rich tourism potential in the region.

"Timika, Sorong, Ambon, and Manado boast stunning natural beauty, vibrant cultures, and remarkable biodiversity. These destinations offer travelers unique and unforgettable experiences to explore Indonesia's natural wonders," he said.

However, Heru acknowledged that government support and collaboration with various stakeholders are crucial to successfully developing transportation infrastructure in Eastern Indonesia.

To this end, TransNusa is committed to working with partners to expand its network while supporting economic growth and development in the areas it serves.

"With the launch of these new routes, TransNusa aims to provide more efficient and affordable transportation alternatives for the people of Eastern Indonesia while maintaining high service standards," Heru stated.

TransNusa is optimistic that with dedication and hard work, the airline can continue contributing to progress and growth in the region
